Michael Lee Firkins latest
guitarfest, Blacklight Sonata,
was the result of a vocal record
that wasn't coming together like he
wanted.
"I was doing a really different
record at the time, and it was just
going on forever," he said.
"It was already three years in the
making, so I had to take a break and
do something I could finish.
Luckily, I had just gotten the new
'57 Fender tweed reissue amp and
started messing around with it.
It was fun to solo with, so I
started playing a lot of guitar
until I thought, 'You know, I'm
going to do a whole record.' I
had a couple of old tracks laying
around to get started, so I was able
to put it together in about two
months."....
